GET READY TO APPLY: Pitch Minority Africa Minority Africa Apply on their own site: https://minorityafrica.org/pitch-guide/ This checklist: https://qualifyafrica.com/o/minority-africa-pitches Built only from what the listing states. Lines marked (our advice) are ours. The application takes real work, by our reading. 1. CHECK YOURSELF AGAINST WHAT THEY ASK [ ] links to work you have published before [ ] you have to be able to report on the ground, and pitches go through their online form, not by email [ ] no kill fee, so if the story is not published you are not paid 2. WHAT TO GET READY [ ] Portfolio or work samples (A few of your best pieces, with a line on what you did in each.) In their words: "an online pitch form: who you are, your background, the story idea, links to previous work, any personal connection to the story, and the multimedia formats you propose" 3. DATES - No closing date is stated. - Openings with no closing date can close once they have enough people, so sooner is safer. (our advice) - On the date, the listing says: pitches are read on a rolling basis, with a reply usually within 21 days. A job never asks you to pay to apply. A listing that charges shows the fee above, and it is paid only to the organisation. If anyone asks for money any other way, stop, and tell us: hello@qualifyafrica.com
